Cultivate mental, emotional and physical balance through movement and meditation – learn to teach others

Teaching a yoga class requires attention to the physical, mental and emotional balance of students. This training will give you the confidence to teach physical yoga practices and meditation techniques, from your own experiential learning, to a wide variety of people including those of different ages, belief systems, yoga experience, and levels of physical abilities. A rare opportunity for valuable reflection and practice, to gain personal insights to bring to others as a yoga teacher.

Three teachers – one awesome training:

Our faculty consists of three experienced yoga teachers who have a professional grounding in science – psychology, engineering and human movement studies – and have 1000s of hours each training and practicing meditation.

We put our heads together for three years to hand craft a unique teacher training that combines emotional intelligence, evidence based meditation practices and yoga asana movements so that you can uncover a deep balance in yourself and thereby help foster these balances in others.

The training combines self paced study with an immersive residential retreat where you can delve deeply into the study and practice of yoga and meditation as a way of life.

An immersive part of the training is a retreat in the idilic setting of Samahita Retreat in Koh Samui, Thailand. A rare opportunity for you to delve deeply into the study and practice of meditation and yoga and bring that experiential learning to others.

A TYPICAL DAILY TIMETABLE

  • 6:00am – 6:30am meditation
  • 6:30am – 8:00am asana practice/ teaching
  • 8:00am – 9:00am breakfast
  • 9:00am – 12:30pm practicums and lectures
  • 12:30pm – 3:00pm break
  • 3:00pm – 6:00pm practicums and lectures
  • 6:00pm – 7:00pm dinner
  • 7:30pm – 8:30pm practice and meditation

On completion of the course you will be qualified for full accreditation as a yoga teacher with Yoga Alliance (200 hours). Continued support through online forums after the retreat welcomes students into a growing community of practitioners.

A unique training which includes:

Evidence Based Meditation

Build upon the practice of mindfulness and complement it with trainings in mental resilience and insight meditation – shown to improve our relationships to ourselves and others. You’ll become familiar with meditations that can be universally helpful with or without a spiritual or religious world view.

Emotional Balance

Each of us is a certfied Cultivating Emotional Balance teacher – we’ve taken some of the key learnings from this training and baked it into the course so that you will be able to use the science of emotions in your own classes and in helping others.

Philosophy

Explore different philosophical frameworks upon which yoga is practiced to better understand them, to accept views different to your own and to help clarify your own beliefs and views on the universe around you.

Integrated Anatomy & Physiology

We will not only cover the study of the musculoskeletal and other body systems but also the relationships between these systems, muscles, fascia and skeleton, skeletal variations and, yogic maps of the body – the skandhas, chakras, nadis and koshas.

Teaching Skills

Verbal communication skills during class, the ethical code of conduct, principles of demonstration and the art of adjustments. Sequencing and incorporating philosophy and meditation into a class.

Yoga Asanas

Principles of asana practice including how to prepare for asana practice, use of the breath and pranayamas, the benefits and contraindications, managing injuries, teaching with props and vinyasa in relation to practice. Learn to bring the contemplative and emotional science framework into the asana practice and learn sequences to balance emotional upheavals such as fear, anger and sadness.

Marina

Marina has been a yoga teacher since 2008, teaching many years in Australia and currently based in Brazil. Since then, has been exploring meditation techniques, which have increasingly been integrated into her personal practice, and are an essential part of her classes, workshops and teacher trainings. Jude

Jude has witnessed the physical, mental and emotional benefits yoga has brought to both herself and others. This inspires her to share yoga with others so they too can experience wellbeing, stillness, peace, open heart and wisdom. Jude has been teaching yoga since 2005, Buddhism since 2002 and also has a Bachelor of Science in Human Movement Studies and Environment.  She has over 1000 hours of teacher training and has spent at least one year in cumulative retreats (mostly silent) throughout her life thus far.

Rob

Rob’s been yoga teaching since 2012, his practice being informed by the study of meditation and traditional taekwondo training he did growing up. His classes are influenced by that background, packaging traditional concepts into modern wrappings.
