Starting the day with a dynamic yoga practice is highly recommended as you can work deeply into the systems of the body.  The digestive system is at its most empty, the circulatory system gets moving, and the parasympathetic nervous system is activated (the bodies ‘rest and digest’ mode).

6:15pm Beginner Foundation Yoga Class – Zoom

Thursday 6:15 – 7:15pm – Zoom – with Rob

In this class we will build a yoga practice from the ground up – starting with the load bearing parts of the body (the feet and the hands) before moving on to other body parts.  The aim is to get the body moving with more freedom – using the postures of yoga and the principles of Function Range Systems to clean up the mechanics of movement.

A 5 minute morning routine everyday and short (10 minute) homework videos will be posted with a recommendation that these be practiced 3 times a week in addition to the classes.

What you will learn/ experience:

  • The foundations for a safe practice
  • Exercises to increase ease of movement in the hips, shoulders and spine
  • A short sequence to effectively maintain the body and prepare for any activity
  • Basic breath work and integration of this into a movement practice

 

6:15pm Continuing Beginners Class – Zoom

Mondays 6:15 – 7:15pm – Zoom – with Jude

For those new to yoga or those coming back to your yoga practice, this class will introduce you to a sequence of postures (asanas) and give you an understanding of the foundations of hatha yoga practice.

Each class will focus on strength building postures and gentle stretching, as you are guided through the yoga postures (asana), breathing techniques (pranayama) and meditations.  The aim is that you body will have more freedom and less tightness, and your mind will be more clear and calm.

What you will learn/ experience:

  • The foundational postures of hatha yoga
  • Instructions on how to bring safe and correct alignment and engagement in the postures
  • Guidance though breathing techniques and how to link those with the movements
  • Foundational meditations and relaxations

9:30am Gentle Hatha Yoga – Zoom

Yoga with a focus on gentle asanas (postures), improving mobility, slowing downing, inner reflection and relaxation. Suitable for all, including those with minor injuries.

 

 

9:30am Gentle Yoga – Zoom

Wednesdays Gentle Yoga 9:30 – 10:30am – Zoom – with Celesta 

Keep your body moving, feeling well and agile, and to help you develop mental calm and clarity.

In this class its option to make use of the chair to support your practice. Like the use of other props in yoga practice, using a chair as a prop will assist you in targeting and working areas that thought they could ‘hide away’ from being involved in the practice.

Props can also be a supportive tool for injured or restricted parts of the body. Celesta is very skilled at tailoring the class to meet the needs of whoever attends.

This class is suitable for all levels of practitioner, including those with injury and reduced mobility.  You will need a sturdy chair for the practice.
